Hoo Boy

Murray-Wawrinka is one of the best tennis matches I’ve seen in a long time. Hardly a poor rally in the match. So many great ones. Thanks to Becky for putting Clem to bed tonight sose I can watch it!

iPod, iPhone, MacBook, iMoan

I have been obsessively checking my order status on Apple’s website ever since Thursday when I ordered a MacBook. My laptop was stolen in February and ever since then I have longed to replace it’s sleek contours. But on Thursday desire became need when my computer totally died. I think it’s the power supply which should be easy to repair, except it’s a non-standard one and I doubt Dell still makes it. So I am not anticipating a quick return of my desktop, if I ever get it back. My hand was forced and I ordered a new MacBook. Now I’m ludicrously excited about it and can’t stop checking the order status. Come on, Apple! I have cabinets to design!

Madman’s Bluff

Friday, June 26th, 2009

We have a local drunkard/madman. I’ve heard him battling invisible adversaries as he stumbles down our street in the middle of the night. Last night I saw him during daylight hours, his silver hair, his beige polo shirt, his sideways shuffle, and I heard his insane mutterings though he wasn’t at full tilt, when he commands his antagonists to get down on their knees, here he comes, he’ll show them, damn them. Today I saw him outside Sainsburys, giggling, well groomed, wearing the same shirt and babbling gently with a drunken smile.

A neighbourhood character, we’ve never had that before.

My Multiple Grains…

There is a hilarious headline in the York Press today about a “serial bigamist” who comes from York. They love weird or gruesome stories that somehow tie back to this place.

Anyway I was thinking what this might mean. Serial means in succession and bigamy of course means being married to more than one Mormon. So she wasn’t a traditional bigamist. She just neglected to divorce her earlier husbands.

Then I got to thinking how I’m a cereal bigamist. In the sense that I’m gastronomically wedded to eating more than one type of cereal at a time. Then I wrote a nonsensical but no doubt amusing blog post about this random morning thought.

No doubt amusing…

Twitterati

I’ve joined the elite online squad of nonsense spewers named above. I’ve known about Twitter for some time but never joined. It seems okay though the fact that I don’t know anyone who Tweets is a little annoying. Oh well. I’m sure if it’s as interesting as people say it is then it will come into it’s own in time.

Credit for Twitterati goes to Becky, by the way.

Wimbledon

Has anyone else ever noticed how twitchy Andy Roddick is? I wish the guy well, but he’s so hyper and looks so uncomfortable out there that I get nervous watching him. I think he dwells in another dimension in addition to the one we all (mostly) inhabit.

Federer looks set to win the men’s tournament this year. I would love to see Murray challenge him, I think that would be a high point so far in his career, though I don’t expect he could win. Federer’s game looked better than ever at the French, if not so mathematical as it once was, then more cunning, which is no bad thing.
